Theheyyman is a Los Angeles based designer/artisan who will take your wildest ideas and bring them to life in the form of wearable art pieces. Offering 1 of 1, high quality bespoke/custom leather goods made right here in the U.S. as well as large scale productions and partnerships. 

Nicholas Avery started theheyyman in 2012 in Buffalo, NY as a street art alias. Inspired by artists such as Banksy and Space Invader, he began stenciling and installing large scale mosaics into the public. His philosophy was instead of trying to bring eyes to his work, the pieces would be placed in front of you so you had no choice but to notice.

Later, he would combine his love for art with his passion for footwear and began customizing shoes to display in local shops. This generated a lot of interest and inquiries began to come in.

After growing tired of painting shoes, he started searching for a new way to express himself and elevate his craft. He began training in shoe repair under Don Criola and in early 2017 took several shoemaking classes where he learned to create original and reconstructed footwear.

A year later, he relocated to Los Angeles, CA to surround himself with like-minded creatives who shared similar passions. Everyday was filled with teaching, learning and fine-tuning his techniques of shoemaking and leather working while focusing on the importance of detail and quality.
